COMPETITION GOAL
Competition allows Networking Academy students to present their knowledge in the field of computer networks.
COMPETITION FEATURES
Networking Academy students have an opportunity to join the Networking Academy Games (NAG) competition. Individuals and teams compete in categories on various difficulty levels. The competition usually runs in several rounds within each country: for example school round, national round, depending on national regulations. These are followed by an international round.
COMPETITION TASKS
The competition task solving is divided into theoretical and practical parts.
The THEORETICAL PART requires students to pass an exam which tests their knowledge of basic network technology concepts.
On-line knowledge test:
- Test is given in English.
- Time: max 30 minutes.
- It has the same form as the tests used in NetAcad education system.
- Test is solved by each competition participant individually (whether it is individual or member of team). The team result is evaluated through an average rate of all team members (team’s total score divided by the number of team members).
The PRACTICAL PART of the competition is focused on the configuration of network components and their troubleshooting.
Practical part:
- The practical part is in English.
- Time for categories "HS3" and "UNI": 30 minutes (task analyse, preparation for practical part) + 60 minutes (practical part in laboratory).
- Time for Packet tracker "PT" category: max 60 minutes.
- Practical part for "PT" category is carried out by Packet Tracer
The content of both parts of the exam is strictly based on thematic ranges of the CCNA courses in the Cisco Networking Academy program.
CATEGORIES and NOMINATION
The NAG competition is organized for winners of the national competitions or for students nominated under the Area Academy Manager approval. Competition categories:
UNI Category - universal for all individuals – the goal is to identify the best NetAcad students (secondary school and university students)
HS3 Category - category for secondary school teams (3 students per team)
PT Category - open category for all individuals specialized in the usage of Packet Tracer
Nomination for each category – via registration/application form with AAM approval for winners of national country competitions)
Category UNI – max 2 students from each country
Category PT – max 2 students from each country
Category HS3 – max 1 team from each country
Deadline for nominations: June 2, 2009
Requirements for nomination:
- Student of secondary schools or university
- Student need to be properly registered into the Cisco Networking Academy Program – participation only through their home academy
Age limits:
Category UNI and PT = max 26 year old students
Category HS3 = max 21 year old students
Notice:
In both categories UNI and PT, students who are also registered in the NetAcad system as instructors can be nominated. These competitors will deal with the same task as the students but their results will be evaluated separately from the students’.
The Competition Jury:
The International competition jury: Each country, its students are going to participate, has to nominate at minimum one instructors into the jury.
